For a recent Charleston engagement shoot, I had the pleasure of photographing Jessica and Adam downtown. Now Jessica grew up here in the lowcountry so she knew a lot of the places we were going, but Adam on the other hand is from “across the pond” as they like to say. As in the “pond” being the Atlantic Ocean via England! Their wedding is coming up here in January which is only just a month or so away. While we were out having some fun around town, we ended up at Waterfront Park with their two “kids”. One is a rather large kid as in a St. Bernard called “Crusher” and a Mastiff puppy called “Fred“. All I know is that when you are walking with “Crusher” downtown, nobody wants to mess with you! Both of their dogs are as sweet as they can be and would probably just lick you to death if anything happened. ;-) I’m so looking forward to kicking off my 2011 wedding season with them! Congratulations to the both of you!

Sommer and Mike had a very special intimate wedding ceremony held at Hampton Park earlier this month. It was a gorgeous October day with clear skies and sunshine. That’s one of the great things about having a wedding here in Charleston, SC during the fall. While other parts of the country are freezing, we’ve got great weather! They had some little cutie flower girls and in one of the pics below, you can see that she was all “attitude”! ha! Sommer and Mike’s dog, Barley who is a jack russell terrier, was the ring bearer for their wedding. Now most of the jack russell terriers that I have ever seen are just a non-stop ball of energy and all over the place. Well little Barley had to be one of the best behaved dogs that I have ever seen! He just trotted right up the aisle holding the ring box in his mouth like he does that sort of thing all the time. So funny! I told Sommer that her jack russell must also be part squirrel because I have never seen a dog climb up a tree so easily as he did. I managed to get a few quick pics of Barley looking at me while we had him perched on an oak tree limb for some quick after ceremony shots. He was a little more interested in all the squirrels running around down below. ;-)

lora / You are extremely talented! I love the photos, but I could be partial since I love the bride and groom so very much! Thank you so much for sharing in one of our family's special moments and for making it even more magical and wonderful for us.   10.30.2010- 05:55pm

Both Tammy and Jerry were married earlier this month with a very special, intimate ceremony of just family and friends at the Pine Forest Country Club located in Summerville, SC. They had beautiful weather as they were married under a cabana right at the poolside of the country club. We even got to go out on the golf course for a few shots of just the two of them. That is in between the golfers teeing off and hitting the ball right towards us. Good thing that most of them (golfers) weren’t any good and kept slicing the ball right off the fairway!  Then by the time we got back to do some group shots of everyone near the pool, the older brothers had to have a little fun with the youngest one. It was a good way to “cool” off on a warm autumn day! ha! ;-)

Now that the weather is starting to get a little cooler and winter is about to move in, that gets me ready for the upcoming February wedding of Ashley and David! David is a Citadel graduate and they will be having their ceremony at the Summerall Chapel on the grounds of the Citadel campus. Then everyone will make their way over to the Mills House for a huge reception celebration!

The other week we traveled into downtown Charleston, SC for their engagement session. It was a great time strolling all through the city capturing some of Charleston’s most unique spots. As we were getting ready to leave, I told Ashley and David that I knew of a great little spot where the sun sets right across the river with the boats and marsh grass in the background. So we headed on over just as the sun was going down and I think that we got some great shots for them. You can also view their engagement sign-in book design with the link at the bottom of this post. Congratulations to the both of you and I’m looking forward to dressing warm for your winter wedding! ( I may even have some long-johns on! ha ha!) ;-)

Be sure to view their engagement slideshow below along with their engagement sign in book design…….

I have found that over the past several designs and layouts with guest sign in books is that if I leave a lot of blank, white space around the images, the family and friends leave all kinds of fun notes and drawings for the couple. I used to add in lines for people to sign on, but then I quickly saw that it somewhat constrained people to feel like they had to sign on those lines. Leaving more space like this design allows guests the freedom to sign and put notes where ever they would like to! I have found that it works out much better like that.

I was lucky enough to have some great weather and some great clients for a recent wedding photography shoot in Summerville, SC. Kayla and Justin were married in the beautiful chapel of St. Paul’s Church. Two of the cutest little flower girls that you have ever seen. Kayla and Justin have been dating for quite sometime and she finally got Justin to get her a ring! ha! They were both so excited for their big day! They also had beautiful flower arrangements by Thuy Patterson at Jade Water Designs. A big thanks to my buddy, Mike K. for his help covering this wedding with me.  Here’s a few images from their event and a slideshow link at the bottom of this post. You can also view a rough draft of their wedding album by selecting this link.

I had a blast earlier this month traveling out to Springfield, Missouri to photograph the engagement session of Brian and Megan! What a fun trip! They took me all around town so that we could scout out some great places to shoot. Then by the end of the night, we got to go to the Springfield fair that was in town. How cool is that! It’s not often that I get to take a couple up on a ferris wheel to get some cool shots for them. I look forward to traveling back to Missouri in May to photograph their wedding. It sounds like it is going to be a really fun event for sure! Can’t wait! ;-)

Be sure to view their slideshow below! Also, check out their rough draft of their engagement sign in book. I have found that when I leave a lot of blank, white space for the guests to sign on each page at the reception, they leave all kinds of funny notes and signatures. It’s a great way to keep all the “well wishes” from your big wedding day! Enjoy! Here’s a direct link to where all of their images are online.

Of course we had to include their “only child” so far….. ha ha!

Jordan Wood / Hey Robin - I live in Springfield, MO. One of my good friends is getting married and looking for a good outdoor location for engagement photos. I was wondering what park you took the outdoor photos at because I don't recognize it, and I love the backdrop!   09.27.2010- 04:02pm

So most of the time when someone mentions a July wedding in Charleston, most people think hot, hot, hot! Well, I did have a “hot” couple to work with, but the weather couldn’t have been nicer for both Jessica and Jackson on their wedding day. That’s what air conditioning was made for on summer days, right?!! ;-) They were married in the beautiful Mt. Pleasant Episcopal church and had a spectacular reception at the I’ON Creek Club that sits right on the river bend. Beautiful oak trees line the banks of the river and sunsets right over the marsh, who could ask for more in this wonderful city. It really does make my job that much easier! Congrats to the both of you!

Here are just a few images from their wedding. Be sure to view their slideshow at the bottom of this post along with a link to all of their images that are online. Enjoy!

Someone was starting to get really excited about their wedding day………………

Now here were two cool shots from my buddy Mike K. who helped me with this wedding. You can check out more of his stuff at MK Fotos.

This one was shot just before Jessica was about to enter the church sanctuary. Just a little “post processing” to spice it up a bit! ;-)

I told you this place was beautiful at nightime!

I always have to throw in a cake shot……. ;-)

Amber and Maksym (other wise known as Max) were married just a few weeks ago at the Divine Redeemer Catholic Church in Hanahan, SC with the reception held at the Mills House Hotel located in downtown Charleston. They both met at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio where Max is a professional ballroom dance instructor. (Just think “Dancing with the Stars” kind of thing here….) Since Max and his side of the family are Ukrainian, I knew that this was going to be a fun reception for sure! They did not disappoint either! Both Max and Amber looked so graceful and beautiful on the dance floor for their very first dance as husband and wife. They even had a special Ukrainian dance couple entertain all of the guests! I just had to include one of those shots into this blog post. It was too funny to see them dancing like that! Congratulations to the both of you!

Be sure to click on their slideshow below. There is also a direct link to all of the online images below the slideshow! ;-)

Of course I just had to add in the special Ukrainian dance couple! ha ha!
