Charleston Engagement Session & Sign-In Book Design of Ashley and David

Now that the weather is starting to get a little cooler and winter is about to move in, that gets me ready for the upcoming February wedding of Ashley and David! David is a Citadel graduate and they will be having their ceremony at the Summerall Chapel on the grounds of the Citadel campus. Then everyone will make their way over to the Mills House for a huge reception celebration!

The other week we traveled into downtown Charleston, SC for their engagement session. It was a great time strolling all through the city capturing some of Charleston’s most unique spots. As we were getting ready to leave, I told Ashley and David that I knew of a great little spot where the sun sets right across the river with the boats and marsh grass in the background. So we headed on over just as the sun was going down and I think that we got some great shots for them. You can also view their engagement sign-in book design with the link at the bottom of this post. Congratulations to the both of you and I’m looking forward to dressing warm for your winter wedding! ( I may even have some long-johns on! ha ha!) 😉

I have found that over the past several designs and layouts with guest sign in books is that if I leave a lot of blank, white space around the images, the family and friends leave all kinds of fun notes and drawings for the couple. I used to add in lines for people to sign on, but then I quickly saw that it somewhat constrained people to feel like they had to sign on those lines. Leaving more space like this design allows guests the freedom to sign and put notes where ever they would like to! I have found that it works out much better like that.
