When I met up with Christina and Thomas earlier this summer to photograph their engagement session, Christina was telling me about all of these ideas that she had  for her wedding and what she was planning on doing with details. Well, she sure didn’t disappoint when it came to planning a beautiful wedding over looking the Ashley River at Magnolia Plantation. She had a ton of details! One really cool thing was that all of the candle holders on the tables were made from her grandmother’s old spring mattress. Her “something blue” were some really great “Tom’s bridal shoes” where when you purchase a pair of shoes from that company, they buy another pair of shoes for needy children all over the world.  Then she had everyone’s name listed on some old, vintage style  windows outside where guests were to sit during the reception. Another neat idea was to write down how far some of the guests had come to be at their wedding ceremony. Needless to say Brisbane, Australia were the long distance winners coming in at 9296 miles! Wow! Overall we had great weather for a November wedding here in Charleston (which is usually the case). Oh, and I loved the 1928 Model A Ford that they left in. (I’m a big Ford fan. ha ha!)  Special thanks to my friend and fellow photographer, Kate Mckinley, for rocking it out with me at this wedding. Congratulations Christina and Thomas! I know that I will see the two of you “running” on a beautiful adventure for the rest of your lives.

I really do love October weddings in Charleston. Most of the time you will still have plenty of good weather and we certainly got that for Cassie & Brad’s wedding out at the Island House located on Johns Island. Even right now in November, the high for today is supposed to be 77 degrees! I love it! I knew that I was going to have a great time with Cassie and Brad right from the beginning when we traveled out to Bear Island (in the woods) for their engagement session earlier this year! They both love the outdoors so it was only natural that they got married over looking the marsh grass and the beautiful sunset coming down over the Stono River. Congratulations again and I had such a great time photographing your big day! Yay! ;-) Special thanks to my good buddy, Joey G. for helping me out with this event. Also to Cacky Williams of Bride+Aid who did a wonderful job  as the wedding coordinator organizing everything. She was so great to work with!

Now inside the Island House is this red, velvet type wall covering and at first most people may not like that sort of thing, but I saw potential for some quick bridal pics of Cassie with that in the background.

This was the first time that I had a bride and groom take off on the back of a 4-wheeler as they left their wedding reception. How cool is that! It did get a bit chilly later in the evening, but Cassie was a trooper and hopped on the back with Brad and they took off down the road, well at least a little ways down the road…… ha ha! ;-)

Katie and Mark were married a few weeks ago at the beautiful Thomas Bennett House located in downtown Charleston. Both the ceremony and reception were held on the estate grounds which is always nice for family and friends because once they get there, they don’t have to travel anywhere else. (downtown can be quite the challenge sometimes) The weather was gorgeous for an outdoor October wedding and Katie looked fantastic in her wedding dress! I’m surprised her groom, Mark,  didn’t start to tear up just a bit when he saw her walking down the aisle. ;-) Lindsey over at Tiger Lily event planning did a wonderful job on the set up and the reception area was just beautiful! Congratulations to the both of you! I had a great time photographing your big day!

Now I just LOVE it when couples decide that they want to do what I like to call a “first looks“! That’s a very special moment when the bride and groom are off by themselves and see each other for the very first time before the actual wedding ceremony. It’s a very private moment that the couple gets to share without all of the other distractions going on during a wedding event. I know that folks here in the South don’t like to do that (see each other before hand) but I just love being able to capture a very fun, intimate moment for the couple. Yay! ;-)

Carrie and Jacque were married earlier this month at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Charleston. It is such a beautiful and very historic church ( 1789 )  in the downtown area. Their reception was held at Fenwick Hall Plantation located on Johns Island. This is a private residence now, but since Jacque is the executive chef at Wild Olive, the owners come to his place all of the time to eat and offered their estate for a reception party. What an awesome place to have your reception! Carrie worked on all of the details for the table settings and the signage for all of the guests. She even had one of the coolest hats  I’ve photographed for a bride in a long time. ;-) Congratulations to the both of you!

Carrie / Robbin, thank you for all of your hard work and for the amazing pictures. They capture this special weekend perfectly!   10.28.2011- 07:19pm

So now that Cassie and Brad were married this past weekend out at the Island House on Johns Island, I can finally post some of the images from her bridal shoot! We had a great time going all around downtown Charleston for some of her bridal portraits. Her mother decided on the final image (last one in the 2nd set)  to use as a 24×32 canvas gallery wrap in a gorgeous gold leaf frame. I had it on display next to the wedding cake during the reception time. Once I finish up all of the wedding images, I’ll be posting more soon!

We went with the last image as the final choice.

My friends for many years, Gordon and Sue, finally tied the knot earlier this month with their wedding ceremony at their home over looking the Stono River on John’s Island. It was a beautiful ceremony out on their back deck under the oak trees and spanish moss. The sun set right across the river just as the grammy award winning Delbert McClinton Band started up and rocked the whole neighborhood! What a special treat that was! Here’s a few images from their big day! Congrats to the both of you!

Of course I couldn’t forget a few blog images of Gordon and Sue’s favorite singer, Delbert McClinton!

This was a pic of Delbert McClinton that Gordon sent to me when Delbert had THE Beatles open up for him! ha! How many people can say that about their band, eh?? ha! :-) (Delbert is in the middle)

So as I was wrapping up later that night, the kids all wanted to get in a shot and do something. So I told them, “let’s write a note to Gordon & Sue using a long exposure technique“. So what we got was “bride” & “groom” using some glow sticks that they were playing with.

Just a few weeks ago I got to photograph a beautiful wedding out at the Daniels Island Clubhouse where Ebbie and Sammy were married. We were a little worried about a rain shower popping up, but the clouds started to clear up right before the ceremony and it turned out to be really great. The cloud cover made it nice and cool for all of the family and friends that attended. Now I’ve had some grooms in the past give their “future bride to be” some nice gifts before the ceremony, but Sammy got major “points” for scoring some incredible Christin Louboutin shoes for Ebbie. Having shot so many weddings and knowing a thing or two about women’s shoes, as soon as I saw those red soles, I knew these were going to be special. Wow! A funny event during the ceremony was when the little boy who carried out the broom for the bride and groom to jump over after being married, kept trying to pick it up before they jumped over it. I had to include on of those “action” shots in some of the images below. Too funny! I also have to thank my good friend Joey Grob for helping me out with this wedding.

Congratulations again Ebbie and Sammy and I hope that you had a wonderful time in Europe for your honeymoon!

Robbin K. / Thanks Rasheia! I'll have to get in touch with Ebbie to find out where she got her bridesmaids dresses from. I'll post it up here on the blog when I find out!   12.01.2011- 08:42am
RaSheia / The pictures are beautiful! Where did the bride get those bridesmaid dresses from?!!! They are gorgeous!   12.01.2011- 12:19am
Naomi / Beautiful pics of the wedding!!   10.30.2011- 12:08am

My friend Dawn has been dating her now husband, Dustin, for quite some time and when she told me that she was finally getting married and wanted me to photograph her wedding, I was so excited! We had a beautiful day, although a bit hot in July, for their ceremony at Wescott Golf Club Plantation. I might should have rethought my normal wedding gear attire (my all black Johnny Cash look) and went with a white shirt and slacks. ha ha!  It was so good to see how happy and excited she was to be marrying her man! I thought she looked fantastic in her wedding gown that was perfect for a day in July. ;-) Congratulations to the both of you!

Wedding Videographer / Great work, Robbin! Love the slideshow, you're very talented.   09.17.2011- 07:16pm

A few weeks ago I got to travel over to the West Coast to see what their beaches and “sunsets” are all about. I’ve been to Los Angeles a few times in the past but I have to report that the area I was in (Malibu) was fantastic! It was quite different for me to have to drive over the mountains with vineyards on the hilltops and go through tunnels to actually get to the beach. Being an “east coast” guy in Charleston, the biggest thing we have to cross or go over is the Cooper River Bridge! ha!

So Claire and George were married right on the beach in Malibu at the Sunset Restaurant. It’s a beautiful place that sits just under the cliffs before you go onto the beach. Even though Claire and George originally met in Atlanta, they now both live on the west coast where she works in television distribution and he is an attorney. I had such a great time photographing their very special day and partying with all of their family and friends at the reception! A great time indeed, although I don’t know if I would get used to all of that LA traffic out there…. ;-) Congratulations to the both of you!
