Michelle and PJ are getting married next May but we went ahead and photographed their engagement session early since they both live out of town and won’t be back until sometime before their wedding ceremony. Since Michelle just graduated from the College of Charleston, (Yay!) we thought it would be a good idea to shoot around the downtown area since it has such fond memories for her. They will be getting married at the Legare-Waring House located inside of Charlestowne Landing. It is such a beautiful location with the Avenue of Oaks were their ceremony will be performed along with all of the ponds, nature trails, and the unique history of the site (Charleston was founded there in 1670)! I’m looking forward to working with my friend, Stacey Fraunfelter of Red Letter Events who is their wedding coordinator. I’m sure that it’s going to be a really fun event!

Just the other week I got to photograph a beautiful wedding out at the Woodlands Inn & Resort located in Summerville, SC. This inn is the only 5 star and 5 diamond hotel resort in all of South Carolina! Kelly and Matt couldn’t have picked a better place to get married! All of the details were just perfect and they had such a lovely sit down dinner for all of their guests. They even had both of their “four legged childern” in the ceremony to deliver the rings to them. Kelly just smiled the whole entire day and Matt had a grin all the way across his face when he saw his future bride for the first time coming down the aisle! Congratulations to the both of you!

I recently got to do the engagement session of Kelly and her fiance Matt in Mt. Pleasant last week out at Alhambra Hall in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Now since I’ve shot several weddings in this particular location I knew that I had some good places to go to, but man did we get lucky with such a beautiful sunset over the harbor! Most of the time it is kind of cloudy and you don’t always get good sunset shots like this, but the good Lord wanted to show us all something spectacular! Yay! Kelly and Matt will tie the knot next month in May and will be having their ceremony out at the Woodlands Retreat in Summerville. Can’t wait for this one! They are such a great couple who are very fun to work with. Congratulations again!

Last week I had some beautiful weather for Heather and Tommy’s wedding out at the historic Boone Hall Plantation. It was a small ceremony which allowed us the freedom to move all about the property and photograph at some great spots. One of the many beautiful things that Boone Hall has to offer is their fabulous live oak trees. They help to create just a stunning backdrop for any shot. Heather’s bridal bouquet was provided by my friend Victoria at Frampton’s Flowers along with the lovely wedding arch of hydrangea’s. Even though we had to deal with a few gnats here and there, Heather and Tommy were just so happy to be married! Congratulations to the both of you!

The other week I had the honor of photographing Lucy and Matt’s wedding out at the Kiawah Ocean Course clubhouse. This is a beautiful place that sits right on the ocean with the 18th hole right behind the club house. As always during this time of year there is a chance of rain, but the clouds held out and it turned out to be a gorgeous day! After the ceremony, we ran by the Kiawah Sanctuary Hotel to grab a few shots on their incredible staircase. Then the bridal party took the “party bus” downtown the the SC Aquarium for their reception. That’s such a fun place to have a reception because it’s not everyday that you get to have several thousand gallons of water with fish from all over the world swimming by as you dance the night away! Oh, and the kids just love the place. Who wouldn’t!
Victoria from Frampton’s Flowers made all the incredible arrangements and Coastal Videography was their to document everything on video. Jim Smeal of Wedding Cakes by Jim Smeal created their cool cake.

Lucy’s wedding dress just hanging out……

Thanks to my buddy, Chris Smith, for helping me out with some great shots through out the day. We have a great time working together. I also have to thank Kirsten King for coming out and really getting her feet wet with “wedding photography”. I think that she was glad she wore some comfortable shoes! ha!

Somebody was so happy for her special day!

What a great day we had for their wedding!

Since this was such a great wedding party, I figured I’d let them have some fun with it! Yes, I did tell the pregnant bridesmaid (far left) to “fake” her jump.

Now isn’t this just the coolest wedding cake?!! Created by Jim Smeal.

Even the threat of rain and thunderstorms couldn’t hold back the special wedding day of Katrina
and Chad at Middleton Place Plantation and Gardens. I had all of my umbrella’s and rain
poncho’s ready to go, but thank goodness
it turned out to be a beautiful day. We photographers
love when it is overcast and cloudy because we don’t have to worry about harsh shadows or
people sweating and having shiny spots all over them!
It was such a beautiful location that’s
its hard to get a bad shot out there. According to the plantation, they are America’s oldest
landscaped gardens. Katrina was so radiant walking down the aisle I thought for sure that Chad
was going to tear up, but he held up strong! A big thanks to my friend, Joey, at Olive
Productions for helping me out 2nd shooting. Also the band, Two 3 Ways from Other Brother
Entertainment was rockin’ the reception as always! Stage Presence had a great clear top tent
set up for the reception area. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Woolery!

Just getting some help with some earrings………

Here’s a shot of Chad and his groomsmen from my friend, Joey at Olive Productions.

They had a great clear top tent set up by Stage Presence for the reception.

Here’s a quick shot of Katrina by one of the ponds right before her cermony. Doesn’t she look great here!

I caught this one right before her father was walking her up the old stairway out onto the butterfly lake area.

Another shot by my buddy Joey as Katrina was walking down the aisle………

I loved this with the two of them right after their wedding standing on the old ruins of the plantation steps.

Leaving through a sea of bubbles at their reception!

Since Katrina and Chad are getting married at the end of the month we thought since they were both in town that we should do their engagment session asap! Katrina grew up here in Charleston, but they will both be living in Austin, TX once they tie the knot on the 26th! They are getting married at the beautiful Middleton Place plantation right near the river on the butterfly lakes. It’s such a great place to have a wedding. I can’t wait! There’s not a bad photograph in the whole place because everywhere you look is just a gorgeous backdrop of scenery. I never get to do late night shots down at Waterfront park, so this turned out really nice! Congratulations to the both of you!

I loved the beautiful sunset that we had behind the buildings!

I thought that I would try to “light up” the water a bit and added another remote flash off in the distance.

I had the opportunity to photograph a beautiful wedding in the upstate of South Carolina, Pendleton, SC to be exact, at the historic Woodburn Plantation House. Amber and Chris got married on July 25th and eventhough you’re probably thinking that would be a scorcher or a month to get married, the weather was great later in the afternoon. I must say that I am a little biased with this wedding because it also happens to be my wife’s cousin, Amber, who was getting married.
No pressure with the family, eh?!! All of the flowers were done with several family members help and they all looked wonderful! Although I was really working hard, it’s always nice to see all the family together in one spot!

Amber just looked so radiant in her wedding dress.

Now my good friend, Ruth Rackley, who was shooting with me got some great stuff at the wedding. Here is one of the “Clemson” cake shots and then another one of them walking down the aisle together with some post processing by me.

Lucy and Matt were in town the other week checking out all of their cool venues for their upcoming wedding in October, so I told them let’s go downtown and get some engagement pics! I can’t wait for their wedding because they are getting married on the Kiawah Island Ocean Golf Course and then traveling over to the SC Aquarium for their reception. It sounds like it is going to be a really great event! Oh, and you can tell from the photos and the slideshow that they are big Ohio State fans! I tell everyone that I am an Auburn fan by marriage because all of my wife’s family went there. Take a big guess as to where she wants our son Austin to go. (all I can say about that is he needs to get a scholorship! Cha-ching!
Congratulations to the both of you! We’re going to have a fun time in October!
